MIKE MILANO
Mike Milano is currently a leadership consultant, coach, and trainer and is the author of Large and In Charge No More—A Journey to Vulnerable Leadership, a book about the leadership power of vulnerability. Throughout his extensive career Mike’s passions have been training and leader development.
Previously, Mike served as a Senior Director in Distribution for Target Corporation in DeKalb, IL, a position he assumed in May 2012 and held until his retirement from Target in August 2019. With Target Mike led through innovative change in many aspects of its global supply chain, focusing on improved speed, agility, and accuracy.
Before joining Target, Mike enjoyed a 33-year career on active duty in the United States Army, privileged to have earned the rank of Major General. His military career featured command of armor and cavalry combat units from platoon to division level as well as multiple operational and combat deployments. His numerous general officer assignments included Chief of Operations, Plans and Training for US Army Central Command in Kuwait; Director of Training for the United States Army in the Pentagon; Deputy Commanding General of the 4th Infantry Division and Commanding General of the Coalition Police and Advisory Training mission in Iraq; and, Commanding General of both Fort Knox, KY and Fort Jackson, SC, major US Army training installations and home to tens of thousands of Soldiers, family members, and civilians.
Mike earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Lafayette College in Easton, PA, and has earned two master’s degrees: Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University and a Master of Strategic Operations from the United States Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, KS.
Mike is an avid guitar player, hiker, and reader, and he values physical and mental fitness and time with his family.
